Our second date in almost a year!

When my parents offered to babysit so we could have a lunch date, I was so excited! Then I started to think of other stuff I could do.
I could catch up on sleep. I could take a nice quiet bath. I could finally get some cleaning done. I could run errands.
Here I was, blessed with the opportunity for some one-on-one time with my husband and an opportunity to work on one of my goals this year, to date my husband.
So, even though I’m exhausted from two kids not sleeping much at night. Even though my home needs cleaning. Even though I could use this time to have some alone time. I will not do those things.
I WILL ENJOY A DAY DATE WITH MY HUSBAND.
We got to go to one of my favorite restaurants and use gift cards we were given.
We got to hold hands in the car and talk.
We got to eat our food while it was still HOT!
We got to reconnect and be just us.

We got to laugh more than we have in a while. Laugh to the point of crying.
We got to have a date.
If you are ever given an opportunity to have somebody watch your kids, date your spouse! The laundry can wait, the sleep may come eventually, you can squeeze in alone time later. Take advantage of the babysitter and get out of the house to date your spouse!
What an amazing reconnection we were able to have. I felt like it rejuvenated us. I felt like we were just dating again. We needed this. We needed an hour or two to focus on us and our relationship.
I will continue to choose to date my husband. I will make it a priority to date him at least once a month. I will choose to reconnect and strengthen our relationship, our marriage, our family.
